What’s Opening Around Sacramento: Summer 2026

A practical roundup of Sacramento-area food and drink openings to watch this summer, from bakeries and boba to neighborhood bars, pizza, and cuisines from around the world.

If you enjoy keeping a mental list of “places I should probably try soon,” this one’s for you.

Sacramento’s food-and-drink scene keeps moving — sometimes in splashy fashion, sometimes quietly, with a new bakery counter, tea shop, or neighborhood hangout suddenly becoming part of the weekly rotation.

For launch, we wanted a practical roundup of a few recently opened or newly active spots around Greater Sacramento that look worth keeping an eye on.

A quick note before we get into it: openings move fast. Hours change, soft openings happen, and some places are still settling in. So before you make the drive, it’s smart to check the business directly.

Day Tripper — Midtown Sacramento

If your ideal summer plan involves a good cocktail and a temporary suspension of reality, Day Tripper looks like one to know.

The new bar is officially open at 1820 17th Street in Sacramento and describes itself as a “vacation bar,” with service starting at 4 p.m. daily. It’s a walk-in spot, which feels fitting for a place clearly aiming for breezy, low-stress energy.

For Midtown, it adds another option that feels more occasion-y than ordinary — the kind of place you suggest when “just one drink” may or may not remain true.

UMe Tea — Fulton Avenue, Sacramento

UMe Tea has opened its Fulton Avenue location at 2924 Fulton Ave, adding another colorful boba-and-snacks stop to the area.

The shop’s official channels list drinks, snacks, and “cute vibes,” which, frankly, tells you a lot. Its website shows daily hours and confirms the Fulton address, making this one a solid pick for anyone who likes fruit teas, milk teas, or an afternoon sugar-detour that somehow turns into a full outing.

If you’ve already seen UMe elsewhere, this newer Sacramento location is the one to watch here.

Kind Bean Café & Ethiopian Cuisine — Sacramento

On Fulton Avenue, Kind Bean Café & Ethiopian Cuisine is another opening worth noting.

The restaurant describes itself as a place for authentic Ethiopian food, traditional coffee, and warm hospitality, with dishes including kitfo, tibs, vegetarian platters, fresh juices, and Ethiopian coffee. It’s located at 1547 Fulton Ave in Sacramento.

This is the kind of opening that makes a roundup more interesting: not just another generic café, but a place bringing a distinct food tradition and a full dine-in experience.

If you’re looking to branch out from your usual lunch routine, this seems like a good candidate.

Pastry Cat — East Sacramento

East Sac has a new bakery to keep on the radar: Pastry Cat, now operating in Sutter Park at 533 53rd Street, Suite 140.

The bakery café’s official Instagram lists current hours as Friday through Sunday, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., so this looks especially good for weekend pastry plans. Public descriptions of the shop point to a menu built around French-inspired pastries, espresso drinks, and matcha.

This feels like a classic “go early before your favorite thing sells out” situation.

Bad Bakers — West Sacramento

If your breakfast priorities lean toward donuts, Filipino Spanish bread, and baked goods that are a little more fun than average, Bad Bakers in West Sacramento is worth a look.

The company’s official site lists the West Sac location at 2050 Town Center Plaza #B170, and its social posts confirm the West Sacramento opening is now underway.

Bad Bakers already has a following in the region, and this expansion gives West Sac its own outpost for over-the-top sweet treats and savory bakery items.

Not every opening needs to be a white-tablecloth revelation. Sometimes a really good donut situation is more than enough.

Old Town Pizza — Roseville

Roseville’s Old Town Pizza location is now open at 120 Church Street, according to the company’s official site, which lists the location as open daily with regular happy hour and late-night happy hour hours.

For Roseville, this one stands out because it brings a recognizable local pizza name into a downtown setting. It’s a useful option to know about whether you’re meeting friends, feeding a group, or just trying to avoid the eternal “where should we go?” text thread.

Pizza may not be new as a concept, but a neighborhood pizza spot still matters. Deeply, for some of us.

Block Craft Beer + Kitchen — Pocket/Greenhaven

For Pocket/Greenhaven, Block Craft Beer + Kitchen looks like a newer neighborhood addition with a clear community angle.

Its official site describes it as Sacramento’s neighborhood brewhouse in the Pocket, with 16 rotating taps, elevated handhelds, salads, and a patio built for hanging out.

It’s also leaning into family-friendliness and events, which gives it a little more range than a standard beer stop. If you’re in that part of town and want somewhere casual that still feels fresh, Block looks like one to keep in rotation.

More openings to watch

Sacramento-area openings are rarely just about the food itself.

They’re also about the neighborhoods they land in, the routines they change, and the new excuses they give us to leave the house.

We’ll keep tracking more as they come in. And again: check directly before you go, especially if you’re dealing with a soft opening, limited weekend hours, or a place that’s still finding its groove.

If there’s an opening we should have on our radar, send it our way.
