About this event

Two great short talks this evening, back to back. ***Underused JavaScript Features*** **Ade Ritchards** is a **Founding Engineer** at **TenYour**, a startup built to spread generational wealth opportunities. JavaScript is full of features that have shipped in the language for years and almost nobody reaches for. Ade will walk through a few of his favorites: what they do, why they stayed obscure, and where they actually come in handy. ***Strangler Fig Migrations*** **Madeline Hou** is a **full-stack engineer** at a **legal services company**, building specialized tooling in Workers Comp. Ever inherited a system everyone agrees should be replaced, but nobody can afford to stop and rewrite? This talk walks through the strangler fig pattern: how to grow a new system around an old one and retire the legacy parts piece by piece. She'll get into where to cut the seam between old and new, and why the same move shows up whether you're replacing one component or a whole service. \~\~\~ This event is being hosted by our friends at Bike Dog Brewing East Sac! There will be a food truck and beverages are available for purchase on-site. **This meetup group is dedicated to providing a harassment-free communication experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, or religion (or lack thereof). We do not tolerate harassment of event participants in any form.**
